President of UN General Assembly invites APN-PAD's Alando Chia for High-Level Meeting

APN-PAD is delighted to announce that Mr. Alando Chia, Co-founder and Director of Diversity and Transnational Strategic Engagement at APN-PAD has been invited by His Excellency Philemon Yang, President of the 79th United Nations General Assembly to participate in the UN High-Level meeting of member states to mark the conclusion of the International Decade for People of African Descent at UN Headquarters New York.

On the recommendation of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Geneva, Mr Chia will be attending as an emerging leader and expert on the human rights situation of People of African Descent in Asia Pacific and a panellist on the Development Panel at the High-level Meeting.

As a senior United Nations Fellow and co-founder of the strategic bridging network for People of African Descent (APN-PAD) we are immensely proud of his invitation which is a profound endorsement and recognition of the empowering work of APN-PAD at the global and international level. under recommendation from the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights,

APN-PAD wishes Mr. Chia safe trip to New York and a productive participation, contributions, and civil society diplomacy at the international level in New York to further and engage member states and international institutions and civil societies on the recognition of the challenges, contributions and presence of People of African Descent in the Asia Pacific region. As well as represent APN-PAD's key objectives of encouraging member states to proclaim a second United Nations International Decade for People of African Descent.
